Horses have always been Julie T. Chapman’s passion. She grew up wanting but not having one, so it’s only natural that her artistic side filled in the blanks. She paints and draws many of the animals, along with elk, mountain lions, wolves, and more.

Zebras came into the picture when she visited Africa for the first time. Now her work draws on both the Dark Continent experience and her work with horses to create the striped beasts in paint and pencil.

Here’s a time-lapse video of a zebra scratchboard by Chapman. The work actually took her several weeks, but technology lets admirers and prospective buyers see all her hard work in just two minutes.
