Sporting Classics’ Editor-At-Large, Jim Casada, was recognized by the South Carolina Outdoor Press Association with an Excellence In Craft Award in the electronic publication category for his article, “Of Catfish and a Smelly Old Codger,” that appeared on Sporting Classics Daily May 24, 2018.

“It is always gratifying when one’s peers recognize their work,” Casada told Sporting Classics Daily.  “Writing for Sporting Classics was my first major breakthrough as an outdoor writer… It’s what got me into outdoor writing in a significant way.”

Since that breakthrough, Casada has won almost 200 craft awards for his writing and photography, he is an Honorary Life Member and recipient of the Arnold Gingrich Memorial Award of the Federation of Fly Fishers, was an inaugural inductee into the Fly Fishing Museum of the Southern Appalachians Hall of Fame and in 2007 was recognized by the National Wild Turkey Federation as its Communicator of the Year.

“I first met Jim while we were hunting and fishing in the Arctic, of all places,” said Scott E. Mayer, digital content manager for Sporting Classics Daily. “I knew I liked him as a person right away, and am pleased to now be working with him.”

Sporting Classics Daily provides digital readers with regular samplings from the company’s flagship print publication, Sporting Classics. Daily readers also enjoy current news of interest to sportsmen and women and unique, additional hunting and fishing content.
