Hey, look beside you on the wall for a calendar, or – do as most hoomans now do nonstop – hide your face behind your cellphone and look at the date. Christmas is coming and that means a tree with lots of gifts for dogs, family members, dogs, friends and dogs under that tree. Get the hint? I have my own Christmas tree, so it is going up soon. It’s time for holiday shopping!
Mike asked me to make up a list of things I want for Christmas this year, but the staff at Sporting Classics has put a limit on words in my columns so the Cameron’s Holiday Wish List will not be appearing here. Ugh! To aid you with shopping for your hunting dog, I have a few suggestions.
Topping the list is a new cushy dog bed. I am a true expert on one topic and that’s being cushy. I have nearly a dozen dog beds around my home and all get used nearly every day, so dog beds are great ideas. Add on some pajamas and blankets to upgrade life for any dog. While some dogs have actually learned to cover themselves with a blanket when they lie down, I wait on Mike to do this for me. Gives him something to do, LOL.
Next, treats of all kinds are a welcome gift for dogs. Mike’s friend Marlon recently found dog treats that look, smell and taste like bacon. WOW! These are my new favorites. I need to find some treats that also resemble cornbread and life will be complete. Nearly all dog treats are welcome. Buy plenty and gift greatly!
Dog toys are also welcome gifts. Get the ones that squeak and any keen dog will show you how fast a squeaker can be chewed out. You find that loud incessant squeaking annoying, and so do dogs, and that’s why we chew out the squeaker. One of life’s biggest mysteries solved. A benefit for you in reading Sporting Classics Daily har har!
One final suggestion when shopping for a dog is steaks! Every dog loves a grilled steak and filet mignon is a good starting point. Medium rare will work fine. If you want to treat yourself, go ahead, but remember to get two steaks. —Cameron
