An avid student of nature and outdoorsman, much of his time is spent studying his subjects in their natural environment. “Working from life and using live models is essential to accurately portray my subjects’ in sculpture. Not only do I need to know their anatomy inside and out but to understand their personality and gestures.”
Growing up in Spokane, Wash., Ott’s fascination for wildlife was kindled as a young boy by his father through hunting and fishing.
