I am making a list of restaurants where dogs are welcome.

I understand that in many countries in Europe (where my ancestors came from), when the folks go out for supper, the dog goes along, sits at the table and in some places can grab a bite. Wow, I mean, I have to sneak a bite off Mike’s plate when he’s not looking (he never notices). I also do not want him eating my crunchy, so I guess I should not complain.

I am making a list of restaurants where dogs are welcome, so when I am traveling I can stop in and have a meal — and possibly a brew. If they check IDs, I don’t have one, but I don’t think Mike and I would have a problem passing the ocular pat-down, “looks over 40” test. In dog years, I’m around 50, har har!

Anyway, Unleashed Hounds and Hops in Minnesota could be a good place to dine. Out in Montana, the Spotted Dog Saloon might be a good place to order food — and more. There are also the Lazy Dog Restaurant in Texas and the two Bar K restaurants in Missouri. Wow, my dining options are increasing dramatically! There is also a Nauti Dog Restaurant in Georgia. As you can see, I need a road trip — now! There are so many places where a dog is welcome to join diners. Time’s a-wasting. I may be able to get that cold one at The Dog Bar in Florida. There is also The Watering Bowl near Denver and the Barking Dog diner in New York. I need to pack a fork and hit the road. Also on my radar is Mutt’s Canine Cantina in Texas complete with a dog park.

Now, some of these and other restaurants require the dog sit outside on the patio. Not what I have in mind, especially during the winter. I’ll ask my lawyer about this.

Well, if you are reading this and cannot find a dog-allowing restaurant near you, then it’s perfectly OK to cook a meal and have the dog join you at the table. I know dogs love steaks, treats, nearly anything with cheese, some fried chicken (remove the bones), treats, cornbread and meatballs. If you are cooking breakfast, a cheese omelet will be welcome, and remember to fry some bacon to go with that.

As you can see, there are places to eat with the dog along, but dogs are not picky in what they eat. If you are wondering about dessert, some treats are always a safe bet.

Bring your fork and I’ll see you at a table, har har! —Cameron
