Daily subscriber Kevin McNair has many titles to his name. He’s a local Bass Pro hunting pro and exclusive firearm instructor, a multi-state concealed carry firearm instructor, Chair of his local Mule Deer Foundation chapter, teaches hunter education classes, and helps local Boy Scouts earn firearm-related badges.

Now he can add “S.A.F.E. Summer Local Champion” to the list.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation bestowed the honor on McNair as part of it’s third annual Project ChildSafe “S.A.F.E. Summer.” The campaign encourages safe firearm storage—especially when children might be home alone without adult supervision.

McNair was selected for his extensive work with firearm safety throughout Nevada. He is a member of the National Rifle Association, Safari Club International, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Wild Sheep Foundation, and many more organizations. He earned a degree in marketing from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and has over 25 years of general and casino marketing experience—with more than 17 years at the executive level.

“For me, firearm safety is the most essential and important part of the classes and seminars I run,” McNair was quoted in the July 13 Shooting Wire. “Basic firearm safety and proper storage should be taught to anyone of any age. It is especially critical to teach children and their parents the steps they should take to protect themselves and any visitors to their homes from firearm-related accidents.”

“S.A.F.E.” serves as an acronym for:

  • Store your firearms responsibly when not in use
  • Be Aware of those around you who should not have unauthorized access to guns
  • Focus on your responsibility as a firearm owner
  • Educate yourself and others about safe firearm handling and storage.
