The Chama Peak Land Alliance is holding a drawing to raise money for land management in the San Juan-Rio Grande Watersheds of Colorado and New Mexico. Two prizes will be awarded: an elk hunt at The Lodge and Ranch at Chama Land & Cattle Company and a fishing trip on the Rio Chama River with Trout Stalker Ranch.
One-thousand $100 tickets will be sold for the first trip: A five-day, six-night peak-of-the-rut trophy-elk hunt scheduled for September 19 through the 23. The adventure will include lodging, meals, and bar for one hunter and one non-hunting guest; one bull-elk license; and one-on-one guide service. The winner may hunt with a bow, muzzleloader, or rifle.
One-thousand $50 tickets will be offered for the second trip: A two-night fishing adventure for four anglers on the Rio Chama anytime between May and October. Located just south of the Village of Chama, Trout Stalker Ranch is a private, non-commercial operation that has nearly two miles of river frontage not open to the public. Two anglers will join their guide on the Rio Chama, alternating with the other two fishermen, who will fish the eleven-acre Arrogant Goose Lake and the three-acre Muchas Truchas Lake.
A complimentary membership to Chama Peak Land Alliance is included with the purchase of each ticket. The drawing will be held May 1. Visit chamapeak.org or call (888) 445-7708 for more details.
