London gunmaker John Rigby & Co. has added distinguished wildlife artist Zoltán Boros to its esteemed art department. Hailing from Subotica, Serbia, Zoltán’s journey into the realm of hunting-themed art began during his secondary school years, fueled by a passion for wildlife that eventually blossomed into a celebrated career.
Zoltán’s artistic prowess is deeply rooted in his love for nature and his keen observations of wildlife behavior. Graduating from the University of Agricultural Sciences in Gödöllő, Hungary, with a degree in environmental management and specialization in wildlife management, Zoltán’s connection to the natural world goes beyond the canvas. As a seasoned hunter, he adeptly captures the essence of his subjects, drawing inspiration from observing animals in their natural habitats.
His fascination with the interplay of line and tone in graphic art has led him to create masterful works characterized by elegance, simplicity and a profound understanding of anatomy. His creations, predominantly centered around native European wildlife, serve as a testament to his commitment to authenticity.
To celebrate this exciting collaboration with Rigby, Zoltán has crafted seven exquisite limited-edition prints. These pieces showcase his deep connection to nature, featuring subjects ranging from the Grey Partridge to the Wild Boar Driven Hunt. Each print comes with a 7cm white bottom border, a unique series number, the artist’s signature and the Rigby logo embossed in relief.
The collection invites art enthusiasts, collectors and wildlife aficionados to explore and acquire these remarkable artworks. Each image offers a glimpse into the intricate details and vibrant expressions captured by Zoltán.
Zoltán’s artistic journey is reflected in his diverse range of subjects and mediums. His self-taught mastery of fine art, guided by the professional advice of painter Róbert Muray, showcases a deep commitment to honing his craft. In 2003, he received the Golden Brush-Pen fine art award for his graphic and illustrator work, solidifying his place in the artistic landscape. His works have been certified as Hunting Cultural Value in the fine art competitions of the Hunting Cultural Association and Zoltán has been a member of MAOE (National Association of Hungarian Artists) since 2017. In 2020, he also received the Péter Balogh Art Grand Prize, founded by the Hunting Cultural Association.
Zoltán’s artistic evolution extends beyond graphic art into the realm of painting, where he skillfully navigates the complexities of oil and watercolor. The use of diverse materials such as canvas, plywood and leather adds a unique dimension to his works, with a nod to the ancient tradition of painting.
In his own words, Zoltán shares, “For a decade now, I have been trying to depict what so many of us experience when we are touched by nature.” His journey, marked by a fascination with line-rich tonal graphics and a profound exploration of color, is a testament to the enduring connection between his artistic beginnings and present creations.
As Rigby welcomes Zoltán Boros into its art department, art enthusiasts and admirers of wildlife alike are invited to explore the captivating world he creates. Through each stroke of his brush or pen, Zoltán captures the uniqueness of his subjects and the situations of their existence, inviting viewers to join him on a visual adventure that celebrates the beauty and authenticity of the natural world.
