The deadline to enter the 15th annual Arizona Big Game Super Raffle is still three months away, but May 31 is the last day to be eligible to win the “early bird” prize for May — one of five Vortex Ranger 1800 Laser Rangefinders.

For each online order for raffle tickets placed through May 31, a hopeful hunter will receive one chance to win one of the rangefinders through an incentive drawing conducted by the nonprofit entity, which raises money for wildlife conservation efforts. The more online orders placed, the greater the chances of winning. The incentive drawing will be on or before June 5.

The Arizona Game and Fish Commission annually awards the organization a total of 10 Special Big Game Tags, one for each of the state’s big game species — bighorn sheep, elk, mule deer, white-tailed deer, pronghorn, bison, turkey, bear, javelina and mountain lion.

Raffle tickets are available for $5 to $25 each, depending on species, and can be ordered online.

There is no limit on how many raffle tickets can be ordered. The deadline is 10 p.m. Sunday, July 12. The names of the winners will be drawn at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Arizona Game and Fish Department headquarters (Quail Room), 5000 W. Carefree Highway, Phoenix.

In the 14-year history of the raffle, more than $7 million has been raised for wildlife and wildlife management in Arizona. Last year’s event generated $669,065.

Every dollar raised for each species through the raffle is returned to the department and managed by the Arizona Habitat Partnership Committee (AHPC) for that particular species. With input from local habitat partners across the state and sponsoring organizations involved in the fundraising, project priorities are determined that will provide the most benefit to each species.
