The best holidays are just ahead for me.

You hoomans have a holiday almost every month it seems. Most of them involve handing out candy, flowers — or hamburgers and hot dogs on the 4th of July, for example. My favorite holidays are just around the corner.

First, there is turkey day. I like turkey. I like dressing, gravy, biscuits and this holiday! Just pass me a turkey drumstick, and I’m a happy Weim, har har! Of course, while the turkey is cooking and the aroma of roasted turkey begins to fill the air, I start drooling. I also watch the oven like it is a TV. When will that big box release the turkey, I wonder? I also know that, for the next week, I will be eating any and all things turkey — those yummy leftovers. Count me in and pass some gravy!

Next, that tall green tree magically appears in the den. Mike learned long ago NOT to put a squirrel in it. I saw the squirrel and a disaster nearly happened. Well, I didn’t know it was a fake tree and fake squirrel. Lesson learned for Mike, har har!

That tree also means I need to start working on my wish list. I could just hand Mike the Orvis Dog Gear catalog and tell him to order one or two of everything. Even though I now have eight dog beds, I could always use another. One can never be too cushy.

Along with the sparkling lights on the tree, there will be more cooking and drooling, plus the frequent stops at the front door by the UPStuff truck, alias UPS. The driver brings gifts — for me — and treats, for me, again. This is always exciting, and on several occasions I dove into the truck to have a look around, sniff out the treats and see if there are other packages for me.

After all that excitement and action, I’m always hungry. Pass more turkey and the gravy, please! Har har! —Cameron
