The best Super Bowl commercial ever for outdoorsmen and women aired this year as Bass Pro CEO Johnny Morris encourages Americans to get back to nature.
The outdoor industry is finally bringing the sporting and outdoors lifestyle to the mainstream media during the best Super Bowl commercial ever that hunters, fishermen and outdoorsmen around the country have been waiting for.
In 2019, Chris Dorsey was inducted into the Legends of the Outdoors Hall of Fame. In his acceptance speech, Dorsey calls attention to the need for a positive narrative of the hunting and fishing culture beyond sportsmen and women. He specifically mentions the fact that there have been no Super Bowl commercials or other uses of mainstream media that work to encourage and support the outdoor lifestyle and the good it brings to the world.
This year, during the 2021 Super Bowl, Bass Pro Shops aired a compelling and heartwarming advertisement in which CEO Johnny Morris spoke on behalf of outdoorsmen across America.
In an Instagram post from Chris Dorsey (@sportingclassicstv), Dorsey writes:
“If you’ve followed me on TV, in magazines, in social media or at forbes.com, you know that I have a passion for encouraging the outdoor industry to take their message beyond sportsmen and women, for we need to tell our story to the mainstream. I’ve done countless interviews and speeches across the outdoor industry and conservation community to encourage our industry friends and others to share our great story with those who don’t live in the outdoors…yet. So it was with great delight that I watched the Bass Pro Shops commercial in the Super Bowl. No one has done more for outdoorsmen and women in America than Johnny Morris who gives generously to just about every conservation or sporting advocacy organization. Remember that before you buy a piece of outdoor gear/equipment from Amazon.”
Morris makes a powerful statement: “In these trying times, we need nature more than ever. We need nature to remind us that like a sunrise or the turning of the tides, these challenges will pass. We need nature to help us heal and reconnect with the ones we love the most. So when you can, get back to nature. Get back to each other.”
