Hiking is full of adventures and sights.

Just the other day I noticed Mike was filling a daypack and lacing up his Irish Setter hiking boots. Great, we were going hiking! Hope he packed a gun because the mountains around here are now full of grizzlies, wolves and mountain lions, so we don’t want to be lower on the food chain than them or it could be a last hike for each and all.

Anyway, after a drive up a narrow and curvy mountain road, it was time to hit the trail and take a hike. The fields and forests are full of exciting smells, sights and other stimuli — that means everyone should get outside and go hiking. Concrete and pavement do not provide stimuli. Hiking is full of adventures and sights. I even like to pause and look at the birds Mike spots, but I have questions about why he does not shoot so I can fetch. Bird watching is nerdy but bird hunting is exciting! A Cameron rule, har har!

Oh! On this hike we saw cows. The ranchers around here take cows to the mountains in the summer to let them graze and vacation, I guess. Cows are everywhere — I’m not complaining because cows equal T-bone steaks, har har! It does, however, mean watch where you step or your hiking boots will become green and smelly.

Oh, Mike has decided I need to carry my own food, treats and water so he packs my backpack with my stuff. If I ever discover I am carrying his stuff in my bags, I will be contacting my lawyer, har har!

Take this as your warning: there are only about 3 months of summer left until cold temps and then snowflakes return. Get out there! Take a hike, and take the dog(s) with you.  —Cameron
