The Signature Lodge north of Pierre, South Dakota, is the first sporting venue to ever receive a Beretta Trident and also voted Sporting Classic’s Lodge of the Year.  But there is more to being an award-winning hunting lodge than just the upland bird hunting, which is pretty incredible by itself.   According to Sean Finley, the Outdoor Concierge and Certified Biologist for The High Adventure Company that manages The Signature Lodge, service is the number one thing that guests remember about their hunting lodge experience.  Food is number two and hunting is actually number three.

According to Finley, the Signature Lodge is able to provide exceptional service because of a unique internship program he established nine years ago with his alma mater the Texas Tech University’s School of Hospitality and Retail Management.  “I wanted to develop an internship program that could provide me with culinary staff and also front of the house staff who can focus on the total client experience,” says Finley. “Since the staff lives on site, staffing issues are eliminated and everyone can focus on providing the high level of service and culinary delights the clients have come to expect at the Signature Lodge.  We also use the Texas Tech internship program at North Platte Outpost, our sister lodge in western Nebraska, where you will find some of the best waterfowl hunting in America.”

The Signature Lodge prides itself on an atmosphere of camaraderie and memorable good times, both during the hunt and after the hunt.  Guests enjoy perfectly prepared culinary creations that rival the best restaurants in the county.  The lodge is among very few that offer private rooms or suites.  In addition to two bars that feature nearly 70 brands of bourbon, scotch and whisky, the lodge also has a fun game room, sauna, Jacuzzi, exercise facility, conference room and five-stand sporting clays range in case you need some practice before going into the field.
