The Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE) curated and installed an outdoor monumental wildlife sculpture exhibit at the Mount Pleasant Waterfront Memorial Park in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

The sculpture exhibit at Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park is meant to be a destination for a cultural experience, as well as the beginning of what will become a trail throughout the Lowcountry. Located just minutes from downtown Charleston, the six monumental sculptures of animals indigenous to the Lowcountry are a fitting backdrop to the waters and marshes of the Cooper River. Teeming with wildlife, the Cooper River’s tidal waters are a reminder of the rich habitat of the region and the importance of conservation and sustainability.

Top Gun By Stefan Savides

An anonymous donor has acquired and gifted Stefan Savides’ Top Gun, a bronze Bald Eagle, in celebration of Southeastern Wildlife Exposition and the SEWE sculpture initiative. This gift will be on display in perpetuity for all visitors to Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park.

The House of Lords By Walter Matia

SEWE hopes to celebrate public sculpture and inspire additional investment in both public and private spaces throughout our region. The exhibit is a collaboration between SEWE, the Town of Mount Pleasant, Brookgreen Gardens (Pawley’s Island, SC), and individual artists (see list below).

Tidewater Terrapin By David Turner

SEWE will continue to seek funding from public and private partners to celebrate the arts, conservation, and enhance the visitor experience. It is hopeful that in the future this sculpture exhibit will grow into a trail, connecting public and commercial spaces through reminders of the history of both wildlife and art for which our region is so well known.
