Safari & Home continues raising the bar in sporting lifestyle décor with its bespoke furniture collection. Our client’s Owen bar stools are shown here with the walnut bar by Julian & Sons. We used the same walnut wood and Danish oil finish on the bar stools to complete the bar presentation. Each Owen bar stool has hide accents from a different animal.

The rich heritage of sporting lifestyle environments serves as the foundation for the evolving Safari & Home furniture collection designed by Charles Thornburg.

At the core of each bespoke piece is my passion for it to project a sense of belonging in a room that features many other design elements. All of our upholstery is made to order. Each item is available in our leathers or in combination with other hides. Should you want to incorporate your back hides, we will evaluate them once received and suggest various ways they can be used in your upholstered piece.

The word bespoke stems from creating something truly unique – something that will not be duplicated in the future. At Safari & Home, each piece of upholstery commissioned becomes an original. This presents both the opportunity and the challenge to be creative with each client’s individual requirements.

Owen – Swivel Bar Stool

The Owen swivel bar stool was designed to be at home in front of bars built by various master woodworkers. Finished with Danish oil, the walnut base was designed to include splayed legs found on vintage chairs dating back to the early 19th century. Additional features include a memory return swivel, brass front kick plate and a diamond tuft leather back. The creative use of leathers and back hides give this bar stool endless design possibilities.

Alexander – Wing Chair

The Alexander wing chair pays homage to wing chairs found beside the fire place in European castles, originally hunting lodges for the rich and famous. Due to the chair’s large scale, it is appropriate in many sporting lifestyle environments today, especially those having higher ceilings. The elegant curves of the wing and arm, the shelf base and the combination of various hand-rubbed leathers make the Alexander chair a stunning signature piece.

William – Lounge Chair

The William lounge chair has several distinctive features found on vintage English lounge chairs. The leather upholstered arms have a shape known as a “shepherds crook” since they resemble the curved crook at the end of a shepherd’s staff. The front legs with bun feet on the bottom were designed to complement and complete the arm. Walnut was selected for the William chair’s exposed wood due to its acceptance as the wood sportsmen treasure on their fine rifle stocks. The clean refined lines of this chair make It suitable for many lifestyle environments.

Taylor – Cocktail Ottoman

The Taylor cocktail ottoman is envisioned to be the centerpiece of any sporting lifestyle room. Surrounded by four comfortable chairs, the ottoman grounds the space and can be used as extra seating, a surface for serving trays or a place to rest your feet. This original design has concave sides that create a canvas to feature smaller back hide pieces. The ball and claw feet are reproductions of ball and claw feet found on my original Victorian Morris chair. The exposed wood is quarter sawn white oak. Other leg styles, ottoman shapes and sizes and wood species are available. The diamond tufted leather top completes the ottoman design.
