Guy Bignell, widely hailed as the heart of Griffin and Howe, passed away on October 6.
Bignell opened Griffin and Howe in 1999 at Greenwich, Connecticut. He assumed the role as president and CEO from 2007 to 2015, then became the company’s fine arms specialist and low country ambassador. Throughout his career, he championed the heritage, craftsmanship and sporting camaraderie that made Griffin & Howe unique among firearms companies.

“Guy carried a deep reverence for the fine firearms tradition while bringing an infectious energy, sharp humor and warmth to every conversation,” said a company spokesman. “He built lifelong relationships both in the showroom and out in the field and dedicated a major chapter of his life to nurturing that community, ensuring that every client felt like a friend and every employee felt like family. His influence is deeply woven into the fabric of who we are today.
“As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the indelible mark he left on our company, our industry and all of us who had the privilege to work with him. We’re honored to carry his spirit and standards forward.”
