Now is the time for you hoomans to look into purchasing new shotguns!
Since bird hunting seasons are closed or closing, the demand for shotguns and shotshells has decreased. I think many hoomans are now thinking of vacations on remote sandy beaches and taking a cruise or spring vacation. Good for them, and better for anyone wanting a new shotgun.
As a dog who has worked in front of many shotguns, I could be an expert to help you in your shotgun shopping. First, decide on a gauge. Each gauge has advantages, and I admit to liking the renewed interest and availability of the 16-gauge models. More reason to buy, har har!
Next, decide on a model. Over/unders are cool for bird hunting, but semi-auto’s work well for some hunters and don’t forget those workhorse pump and single-shot models if you also like a sporting challenge.
Finally, when buying a new shotgun, look at your wallet and your budget. Spend what you can after you have bought the important dog food, treats, beds and supplies. Get your priorities in order, and if you don’t care for your hunting dog, you probably will not find many reasons in the field to use that new shotgun, har har! I have yet to meet a hooman who could use their nose to find a bird in the brush!
If you are buying that new shotgun, start practicing — NOW! No reason to go hunting if you miss a lot of the birds that take wing like Mike does. This coming summer I will send him to shotgunning classes. When I do my part to put birds in the air, he will more likely do his part to put birds on the ground, har har!
