I am a people person — or dog that likes to meet hoomans. If I see someone on the road, it’s time to quickly move over and greet them.
They could have treats, or bacon in their pockets. Yeah, I understand when some hoomans see a 90-pound dog with bright yellow eyes wildly charging their way, they get concerned. As one woman once said, she was afraid she was going to be bowled over by me. I am not a bowling ball, geeze! Har har!
Recently I went on a business trip with Mike, and one day on this trip it was time to go out and meet folks. I was amazed when someone stated, “it’s world famous Cameron!” This hooman, Jim Mize, who is a humor writer from the South, said he reads my weekly columns and saw all the pictures — of me. Now he was meeting me in person. Of course I hammed it up and checked him out for treats. None were discovered. I also met Mike Jones with Mississippi Tourism and got an invitation to hunt in Mississippi. Guess I need to buy a train ticket South.
This meeting-n-greeting got me to thinking. I need to do a US tour and meet many more people. My plans are for Mike to use some Cameron Foundation money, buy a big travel coach with several places for me to sleep inside and then he can start driving. He is my personal chauffeur! We will stop at every gun shop and bait stand we see along the highways and byways as we drive across the scenic South, motor up the busy East Coast, zip across the northern states and then meander down the Rockies. I’ll be avoiding those three Left Coast states, har har! No one to meet there, just move along.
I’m already thinking everyone who meets me can get an autographed poster — I will stamp a paw in ink and then press that on the back of the poster. These will become instant collector items! I hope this tour plan goes well. In the end I don’t want to end up like Mike. He once found a book he wrote in an antique shop. Ugh. Guess he is officially old. If I ever see a poster or picture of me in an antique store, I could be tempted to raise a rear leg and water everything down.
Once Mike gets the tour bus and ensures I have several soft spots to sleep inside and the bags of treats are loaded inside the bus, let the tour begin! I look forward to meeting everyone! —Cameron
