Preserving the Outdoor Lifestyle
November 8-11, Greenwood Plantation Campus
Thomasville, Georgia— Announcing, Kevin’s and James Purdey & Son’s 3rd Annual Game Fair, an authentic sporting lifestyle event on historic Greenwood Plantation Campus benefiting conservation charities.
“This Southern Game Fair travels back in time bringing family and community together to benefit conservation,” said Tallahassee Magazine.
A Celebration of Thomasville’s Historical Sporting Lifestyle
“There are plenty of events in England that showcase rural recreational land use and Thomasville is overdue,” said Daphne Flowers Wood, Chairman of Tall Timbers Easement Committee and the first female president of the Masters of Foxhounds Association of North America. This year’s event will include James Purdey & Son’s associates traveling from England with their bespoke clothing and sporting shotguns, which will be available for participants to demo with sporting clays at the event; The Poli Brothers from Italy, who make the award winning, Kevin’s Plantation Shotguns, are traveling to America for the first time and will be present for discussion and demoing of the Kevin’s Plantation Shotguns as well; there will be sporting dog demonstrations by Wild Rose Kennels and Ryglen Gun Dogs; fly-fishing presentations; wild game cooking demonstrations by chefs from local private plantations; quail wagon rides pulled by the majestic Clydesdales from Long Pine Plantation; helicopter tours over Greenwood and the surrounding area; fox hounds and huntsmen from Live Oak Farms; a southern lunch on the grounds, camouflage ice cream by Blue Bell Ice Cream; conservation organization, Tall Timbers, discussing the ecology of the area and controlled burning; Tall Timbers will also present wild animals from the area and have their prescribed fire unit present with equipment and more.
Greenwood’s rich history provides the perfect setting behind the most exquisite gates made by Tiffany & Company. Greenwood Plantation was once owned by John Hay Whitney, and guests that visited include President Eisenhower, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, and Jacqueline Kennedy. A private firm now owns the “campus” with its 40 buildings, including the main house.
The event kicks off on Thursday evening, November 8, 2018, with a cocktail party at Kevin’s of Thomasville, sponsored by Buffalo Trace Bourbon: featuring gulf coast seafood, charcuterie, open bar, cigars and more. The Game Fair begins at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, November 9, with breakfast and a celebration of military Veterans and an introduction of the celebrity guests. There will be an “after party” at Southwind Plantation that evening, come as you are, including Nite Lite Clay Shooting over the lake, heavy plates and open bar. Saturday will include trunk shows at Kevin’s of Thomasville by Peter Millar, Purdey of England and other vendors. There will be a Wild Rose Dog Training Clinic, as well as quail hunting in the area. Thomasville, Georgia features a famous award winning Main Street, where shopping and dining are always a pleasure.
“The Game Fair is a fantastic celebration of the sporting life, from the gathering of individuals from all over America, the fabulous sporting attire worn by guests, the sharing of the many sporting activities, and the scenery and fresh air of historic Greenwood Plantation Campus” said Kathleen Kelly, Managing Partner of Kevin’s Catalog. Kevin’s would like to thank Thomasville Ford for being our title sponsor.
