Almost every hunter of Social Security age as well as those of a more recent vintage has been influenced by the writings of Jack O’Connor. For that matter, many readers have likely pondered what it would be like to be Bradford O’Connor sharing their father’s adventures. Click Here to View All
From the 1930s until his passing in 1978, Jack was the kingmaker of all things gun. What Jack wrote was settled law, and we all should be thankful that he was not only gifted to the pen but a man of critical thinking not afraid to question either convention or authority.
Jack O’Connor acquired a goodly number of firearms over his lifetime. Many have found their way into private collections or are on display at the Jack O’Connor Hunting Heritage Center in Lewiston, Idaho. Some were passed to Bradford during his boyhood and others much later as part of the estate. Time marches on and Bradford recently decided it is time to part with some of his treasures.
Over two dozen lots of firearms, art and books from Jack’s estate and Bradford’s collection are currently offered at auction on gunbroker.com. Items include Jack’s Beretta S3 EL 12 gauge engraved by Fracassi, his Ruger Single Six “tri-color” .22 LR serial 17 gifted by Bill Ruger, Sr., a wonderful painting of desert bighorn sheep and copy 4/950 of Game In The Desert inscribed to his mother. Bradford is parting with a Winchester Model 21 16 gauge and a Remington 513-S Matchmaster .22 LR gifted from his father’s battery during his boyhood, along with a number of desirable inscribed books. All items are supported by Bradford’s letter of provenance.
