This week on Sporting Classics TV, Chris Dorsey hunts the North Carolina coast in pursuit of some of the largest black bears on the continent.

Officials from Dorsey Pictures announce that this week’s episode of Sporting Classics with Chris Dorsey – the most watched outdoor program in the world – features two hunts for 500+ pound black bears along the North Carolina coastline. Host Chris Dorsey and Brays Island neighbor David Gardner pursue massive boards in “North Bear-olina” airing this Saturday at 12:30 EST on Outdoor Channel. Sporting Classics with Chris Dorsey is a joint venture between Dorsey Pictures, the largest producer of outdoor lifestyle programming in history and Sporting Classics magazine, the award-winning 40-year-old premium outdoor magazine that showcases the history, art and romance of the outdoors.

The second episode of the season features host Chris Dorsey and experienced hunter David Gardner pursuing the largest black bears on the continent. Black bears don’t hibernate in North Carolina, and they gorge themselves on high-calorie corn, peanuts and other crops causing problems for the local agriculture. Gardner and Dorsey are certainly willing to lend a helping hand by thinning out the population of these scale-busting over-eaters. They also take in an afternoon of waterfowl action for a unique lowcountry combo hunt.

Host Chris Dorsey is among the world’s most widely traveled sportsmen having hunted and fished on five continents and he’s served in board leadership and advisory roles of numerous conservation and sporting advocacy organizations. He’s a member of the Outdoor Legends Hall of Fame and is a recipient of the Ray Scott Trailblazer Award as well as the Curt Gowdy Memorial Award. He’s a biologist, author of 12 books on outdoor subjects, is a past editor-in-chief of Sports Afield and Ducks Unlimited magazines and his work has appeared in most of the outdoor magazines in the English-speaking world as well as National Geographic, Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes and the Robb Report.
