National Toasted Marshmallow Day is when we celebrate the tradition of finding just the right stick and toasting the sugary puffs to perfection.
The stick has to be just right. Cut it too short, and your hand will burn. Cut one too long that is also too lithe, and the slightest adjustment from your end can send it bobbing down into the flames or ashes.
The actual toasting is a process all itself with marshmallow connoisseurs debating whether they taste better with a perfect, even toast, or if you should let them catch on fire for a crisp rind. Should you toast in the flames, or toast over coals? Plain or s’mores?
I think we’ll fire up the PauHana Pit and try them all.
