Swarovski Optik’s Clay Taylor will be leading EcoTour Adventures’ 2023 Digiscoping Workshop at Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.

EcoTour Adventures, along with Swarovski Optik, is partnering up with digiscoping phone case manufacturer Ollin for a six-day workshop in Yellowstone and Grand Teton from May 27th to June 1st. Using Ollin’s adapter on the eyepiece of Swarovski Optik spotting scopes — and a vast array of DSLR cameras — and magnetic technology that snaps seamlessly into place, hunters and explorers are given a crystal-clear view of the subject on their phone’s screen.

Taylor explains, “Digiscoping has evolved rapidly in the past few years, with new cameras, adapters, spotting scopes and accessories making the process a lot easier and more fun, at the same time yielding better results than ever before.”

Taylor currently uses on his spotting scope: an iPhone 14 Pro Max, Olympus E-M1 mkIII, Pentax K3, and Sony a7III and his spotting scope of choice varies from the ATX 65mm Modular to the STX 115mm Modular system scope.

This is a beginner to intermediate workshop in digiscoping — which is the practice of taking photos through a spotting scope — in effort to instruct participants on tips and tricks that will optimize their ability to photograph wildlife in its natural habitat. Primarily, the types of cameras used for this practice are DSLR/Mirrorless cameras all the way down to your run-of-the-mill smartphone, and a specific camera/adapter/scope combination that engenders a 1000mmm-3000mm lens or better. The benefits of such technology span from smaller, lighter-weight lenses with Super Telephoto resolution through your spotting scope.

All participants on this six-day adventure will receive their very own Ollin case and adapter fit to their specific phone.
