In this episode of the E-Scouting for Elk series with OnX, Randy Newberg talks all about hunting burns. He talks about what makes a good burn, how to hunt it, how to find them, and how all burns are not created equal.
The goal of this series is to allow you to scout from home, via computer, and build a very solid hunting plan before you even head to the field. Whether you live ten miles or two days from your unit, this video series will help you plan your hunt, allowing you to be more efficient and more effective.
To find the best burns, Randy uses the burn layer onX Hunt to pinpoint these areas. This layer gives information to the shapes of the burn as well as the year that it burned. With the click of your mouse, you can see all burns in the unit you are hunting and quickly focus on the area with the greatest number of burns.
Follow along as Randy continues to dive deeper into the features of onX Hunt and how he finds areas that hold mature bull elk across many different season dates and many different habitat types.
