Well, there are now lists for everything — including popular dog names.

I was surfing the web and looking for more stuff to order when a list popped up — the Most Popular Dog Names. I had to look — and could not find Cameron anywhere. Who made this list?

On the list I noted Sadie, Molly and other common female dog names (plus Zoe, UGH), along with Bear, Ruger, Moose and Duke for the guys. Kimber also is a common dog name as is Max and Mack. The name you stick on a dog is important because when you yell that name, a dog’s immediate action is to ignore it — no matter what the name, har har! So pick a name for your dog that you enjoy saying over, and over, and over….

For example, when Mike calls my name, I hear him — I have prominent and large classic Weimaraner ears. I hear everything! I am also busy, so I either ignore him or take my slow sweet time in going to see what he wants. He must think I am just standing around waiting on him to call. I am not, I have other things to do. If he has a treat, he then has my attention and I may respond faster. Note: I did not say immediately, har har!

I must report that I did not find any lists for popular cat names. I’ve heard lots of folks call a cat Kitty. They don’t respond. If you want to get a cat moving, start growling, har har! You have their full attention then!

Now on the other side of this coin, if dogs could select names for their Hoomans, I’m certain that Fetcher, Server, Driver, Tosser and other names would be on the Most Popular Hooman Names list — by dogs. And remember that dog’s like to hear their name called. Just don’t expect instant results. Yes, all dogs are listening, so if you want an immediate results, holler “TREATS!” —Cameron
