We woke up early this morning, ate a quick breakfast, saddled a few horses, and headed up closer to where we bedded a few good billies last night. I peed blood again right before I got on my horse, not as much as yesterday but it’s still there.

I have no idea what’s wrong with me, and the part that’s worrying me is there is no pain with it. At first, I thought it was maybe from pulling on the horse yesterday, or a kidney stone, but with no pain I have no idea what the problem is. All I know is that bloody urine is not my body’s way of telling me everything is fine! I tried to forget about that as much as I could and just focus on the hunt.

We made it to the base of the mountain and as soon as we started glassing we found a big billy. We watched the big goat crest over the top, so my buddy Jake Molak and Seth left their horses with us and headed up after him. We got into where we wanted to be, tied the horses, gained some elevation, then side-hilled a’ ways to a spot where we could see the whole valley below us and glass for sheep and goats in some big country.

The first few hours were slow, but after a bit we could see the other guys getting set up for a shot at the top of the mountain across from us. We heard two shots and could see them celebrating. We spent the next few hours getting a little deeper into the bowl and glassed another big billy about 1200 yards away. We watched him drop off the mountain, cross the creek, and make his way onto another mountain and bed. He was a long ways off but he looked like a big goat and I had a tag in my pocket, so we moved in and got to about 475 yards. I got set up and missed the first shot. I moved into 300 yards, found a solid rest, and put two good shots on him. We made our way up the mountain, caped and quartered him, and started to head down.

I’ve been peeing blood all day but didn’t want to tell anyone even though it was starting to scare me a bit. I started hurting as soon as we got to the bottom of the mountain and I peed blood again… I ended up telling Leif what was going on. It hasn’t bothered me much today until I put some miles on with a heavy pack so I’m sure it had something to do with that.

Injuries usually don’t scare me, I can deal with pain, but seeing that freaked me out pretty bad, especially being so far away from any kind of help.  Luckily, we were getting close to where the horses were so after two miles of packing the goat out we saddled up and headed for camp. I felt better when we got down to camp. Hoping and praying this goes away tomorrow.
