When I’m not hunting, sleeping or eating treats, I dig holes, I chew bones and dig more holes to bury the bones I don’t want to eat just yet.
Well, in case you have never been around a dog, there are three important things all dogs do — chew bones, dig holes and bury bones. I like this treasure hunt game with bones and have found and chewed on many deer, cow, elk and other bones. Once I found a beef stew bone someone discarded into a roadside ditch and I chewed that bone for months until it suddenly went missing. Mike pleads the 5th when I ask about where it is.
Anyway, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and the Dakotas are known as great places to dig bones. Diggers, and their dogs, have uncovered millions of bones and many of those bones are on display in numerous museums in those states and other areas of America. Yeah, I know, some folks claim those bones are dinosaur bones from a by-gone era. I know these are just more bones that need chewing. In fact, I find dinosaur bones to be very tasty.
Last summer while Mike was pestering some trout, I looked up the bank and then I saw it — a huge bone protruding out. I scampered up the steep incline, latched onto the bone and began digging. Soon the bone was free. I dug around that afternoon— while Mike was catching NO fish as always — and I loaded up on free bones to chew and eat. According to my research, I dug up most of a T-Rex dinosaur. I spent the entire afternoon chewing on those bones. I’m here to tell you again that dinosaur bones are delicious. Now when I’m passing any hillside, I look up to see if any bones are protruding. I’m even thinking about doing a guide book for dogs on how to find and eat dinosaur bones.
Oh, and like any good dog, after I chewed on those dinosaur bones that pleasant afternoon, I dug another hole and reburied those I decided not to eat then and there. You can buy a copy of my map that has a huge X on it for the dinosaur bone burial site via the Sporting Classics online store.
