World-famous hunter and shooter Jim Carmichel will be on hand to sign copies of his new book at this year’s Southern Side-by-Side Spring Classic. Attendees can purchase Classic Carmichel: Stories From the Field at the Sporting Classics’ booth, then have the author personally autograph their copies while enjoying a special double-barrel shotgun event.
The 17th annual event runs Thursday through Sunday, bringing together lovers of side-bys for gauge-specific, black powder, and other special shoots throughout the weekend.
Those who don’t own a side-by-side can still attend and compete. The Classic Slide Action event on Thursday brings pump gunners from far and near to enjoy the classics in good company. The shoot is returning for its second year after being a big hit at the 2015 Classic.
Joining Sporting Classics will be a number of other vendors, with an attendance level as big as the Classic’s ever seen.
“I think we had the biggest show that we’ve ever had last year,” Side-by-Side’s Bill Kempffer said. “This year is shaping up to be exactly the same. We’ve got 78 exhibitors signed up, and that’s pretty well our cap. We have quite a few more pre-registrations than we normally have, which is a good sign.
“It’s our 17th one; for us it’s a real joy to put on because it’s like a big family reunion — of course, without the fistfights.”
Classic Carmichel is for sale in the Sporting Classics Store today. To learn more about the Spring Classic and to register to attend, click here.
