You never know what you’ll come across when out bird hunting with your Weimaraners. It’s a small world after all, and Cameron the Weim is in for a surprise.

You are not going to believe this it’s-a-small-word tale, but here goes:

I was born in north central Montana and was hanging out under a lawn chair with my brothers and sisters when Mike arrived. Before I knew it, I was picked up and then I left with him that day never to see family anymore. The great news is I soon owned a 4×4 truck, a house, blankets, cushy dog beds and lots of toys. I also found sleeping on a hooman bed was much better than being on a dog bed. I moved in and took over.

I have also been hunting often since taking over Mike’s life, and last fall when I made him drive me to Idaho to hunt birds, some other hunters arrived at our parking site with a pair of Weimaraners. They were also hunting pheasants and as the hoomans talked about the best topic—Weimaraners—they discovered one of their dogs was my sister! To connect the dots in this small world, the hoomans and Mike talked about where Weimaraners come from, where the breeders lived and when they got their Weimaraners. BAM! It was my long lost sister who I had last seen that late spring day more than 5 years past.

Well, just shows how really small the world of hunting is when you are two hours from home, in another state, hunting birds, and your sister pops out of the brush. We played and chased, but then it was time to hit the road and go home. Mike was so busy yapping that he forgot to take some photos of the family reunion. I need to give Mike more training on taking photographs of me!

As always, I get excited meeting other Weimaraners. We instantly compare notes about sleeping on the bed and couch, eating treats and how many Orvis dog beds we own. We also double check to see how we are related. It’s a small world.
