This week, Cameron the Weimaraner shows off his gardening skills as professional tree-waterer, but the job does not come without its complications.

OK, since we have acreage, Mike has decided to plant trees and grasses to attract wildlife and songbirds. I’ve stood by and supervised as he has dug holes, wrestled with trees, hauled top soil, built and installed wire cages and many other odd hooman chores. Next, he spent hours pulling garden hoses and carrying water in jugs to water all that stuff he planted— that now must be cared for.

My plan to help and water those trees and plants is easy: raise a rear leg, and water. Mike just seems to be missing the point and fully understanding how easy tree watering is.

Every time we go out, I water some trees and plants. When we hike through the neighborhood, I stop to water mailbox posts, garbage cans, trees, plants, utility service boxes and anything that catches my attention. For a dog, watering is easy. Just raise a leg. For hoomans, it’s always grab a garden hose and start struggling.

OK, I draw the line at watering truck and car tires. Seems Mike has a major issue with those, so I learned early that those are off limits for watering.

Summer is coming, so I hope Mike soon finds his garden hose and buckets. As for me, I will just drink a bowl of water and then go outside, raise a leg, take aim and water some plants. I’ve got to find a way to let Mike know that I expect rewards for my hard work. Treats would be nice.

I did, however, hear Mike tell a friend that some small, recently planted trees I have been watering several times a day have suddenly died. Guess they don’t appreciate my efforts. Also looks like something burned them, but I do not know what that would have been.
