Meet Cameron, a five-year-old Weimaraner from Montana with a thirst for adventure…and shenanigans. This week, Cameron questions the importance of bathtime.

Well, most upland bird hunting seasons have closed and it was a hectic one for this Weimaraner here in the West. I hunted numerous new areas, for numerous new species and with numerous new friends. All that hunting meant I worked up a sweat.

Unfortunately, because of all that sweat, friends started keeping their distance—or holding their noses—or both. So I decided a New Year meant time for a new smell, so I recently took a shower. The problem with showers are: falling water, all that soap and getting wet. Swimming in the river is one welcome way to get wet, but showers, well they are only for hoo-mans. After getting wet, it’s time to towel dry and then relax by the fireplace until I dry out. I can’t understand why while I am relaxing no treats are served.

Enough about the new, clean Cameron the Weim (me), but let me introduce myself. I’m a five-year-old male Weimaraner living in Montana. I was born here and moved back here last year when I had the opportunity. I like all things Montana, from fly fishing to hiking to hunting. I really like bird hunting. Cats, I don’t like so much.

I do find it interesting to hunt grouse in the mountains, and then travel east or south to hunt pheasants or sharp-tailed grouse. When the tailgate drops, I am ready to spring into action and find birds. OK, let me back up. I don’t ride in the back of trucks. Too dangerous, too dusty, too cold—and too common. I ride in the cab and enjoy a better view, warm heat, comfortable seats and the discussions. It’s been that way since the beginning and I don’t expect to ever ride in the back.

Some of my favorite things are eating brown, crunchy, alias dog food and chewing on treats. I like treats so much that at last count I had 20 bags or boxes with treats inside and those packages include about a dozen varieties. That brown crunchy I mentioned MUST be cooked each morning. Simply place a cup of it in my bowl, pour on a half cup of chicken juice and microwave for about 18 seconds. Just note 20 seconds is too long and if the crunchy is too hot, you can expect a long stare. I’d call you a name for overheating, but you don’t understand my superior language. Do you?
