This week Cameron the Weimaraner shares his secrets to sniffing out the best toys and treasures dog-friendly stores have to offer.
Dog toys are awesome. The other day I found a toy that I have had a while but had forgotten. Originally it was a teddy bear. It is now missing eyes, most of the nose and an ear. Yeah, some stuffing has also fallen out. I think this one is just getting broken in. I like toys, and they don’t have to be just dog toys.
Where do I get toys you might wonder? I go shopping—and I grab them.
I like shopping at Cabela’s, Bob Wards, Petsmart, Bass Pro, Sportsman’s Warehouse and any place with stuffed toys or designated dog toys that are for sale—and will permit dogs to enter. I also definitely go shopping for my birthday and at Christmas. I shop for me— because I know what I like.

I have been known to sneak a grab while I’m on leash and going down an aisle in a store. Then I end up with stuffed toys, like that bear, which was probably put there for kids. But now I have one. And once I grab one, I know the routine. I carry my purchase to the front, stand around and wait on the hoomans to get out of the way, then jump on the counter with my front paws and spit my new treasure out. For the cashier, I give my never-mind-the-spit look—I’m your customer. For other customers who are standing around and gasping or exclaiming “Oh my!” I wonder what’s their problem? Have they never seen a dog who knows how to shop?
