Bergara USA

Bergara Premier

Bergara Barrels, already a well-known OEM supplier to several of the world’s top rifle manufacturers, entered the custom-rifle business three years ago. This year, with the bolt-action Premier Series BPR-16 Classic and BPR-16 Stalker, Bergara enters the production-rifle market.

The Premier Rifles are comparable to Bergara’s Custom Rifles, but the company has standardized some features for greater efficiencies in parts production and assembly in order to deliver them at a mid-level price point.

Bergara’s high-performance 416 stainless-steel barrels go through a proprietary honing process at its Spanish barrel-making facility. Once at the Bergara USA factory, the barrels are coupled with Bergara Premium actions that feature a coned-bolt nose and breech and sliding-plate extractor.

Premier Series BPR-16 rifles are built on your choice of hand-laid fiberglass or Grade 5 walnut stocks, both featuring aluminum bedding blocks that provide strength without adding unnecessary weight. The barrels and actions receive a Cerakote finish, eliminating the glare of the stainless steel and providing extra protection against the elements.

Blaser

Blaser R8 Professional S

The R8 Professional S pays homage to the R93, the straight-pull action that helped redefine the modern bolt-action rifle. The new R8 shares many of the features that exist in Blaser’s current R8 line, with the exception of a removable trigger and magazine housing. The Professional S is loaded or unloaded through an ejection port just like the original R93.

Sure handling is assured with the elastomer inlays featured in the traditional brown-and-black stock. All existing barrels, bolt assemblies, and scope mounts function flawlessly in the new platform. The Professional S is available in calibers from .222 Rem. to .375 H&H.

Browning

Browning AB3 Stalker

The AB3 Stalker combines a matte-blued finish barreled action with a rugged matte-black synthetic stock to create a high-performance hunting rifle that won’t blow a hole your budget.

The button-rifled barrel is triple-checked for interior finish and straightness, then completed with a hand-reamed chamber for tighter tolerances. The free-floating barrel eliminates contact interference from the forend, enabling the barrel to perform consistently and accurately. A fast 60-degree bolt lift allows the bolt to be operated in a smooth motion. The bolt body is plated with matte electroless nickel for smother operation and added corrosion resistance. The bolt-unlock button allows the bolt to be opened with the top tang safety in the on/safe position.

Browning X-Bolt Eclipse Target

The new X-Bolt Eclipse Target rifle will perform right out of the box. You don’t need to add a better trigger, bed the action, free-float the barrel — all of that has been done. Built for function, it comes with a crowned design for superb accuracy and heat dissipation.

Dakota Arms

Dakota Arms 76 PH

The Model 76 is a result of two famous rifles: the Mauser 98 and Winchester Model 70. Today, Dakota Arms makes Models 76 and 97 to include claw extractors, controlled round feeding, and three-position safeties — each feature proven to ensure a rifle’s reliability under the harshest conditions. Each model is available with either a synthetic or wood stock.

New this year is the 76 PH with synthetic stock in a classic Safari profile chambered for popular African big-bore rounds. Also new, the Model 97 Outfitter uses a stainless-steel barrel and action with a slimmer synthetic stock for a more lightweight package.

Dakota Arms has surfaced from the Great Recession with a boost from Remington Outdoor Company (ROC) and is continuing on its path of making fine hunting rifles while using its pool of gunmaking talent to build Remington’s Custom Shop firearms, an operation that will be housed in Sturgis, South Dakota.

Gunwerks

Gunwerks Magnus

The new Magnus long-range shooting system was designed to offer the ultimate shot sequence, from trigger break to follow-through. Advanced design techniques and rapid prototyping enabled the Gunwerks engineering team to strategically test at every stage of development. The result is the perfect long-range rifle stock.

Four areas offer unique engineering enhancements. The grip positions the hand perfectly for a precise trigger break; the toe line prevents the stock from dropping on the bag under recoil; the negative comb reduces muzzle rise and pulls away from the face under recoil; and the true flat forend is more stable on a front rest and reduces torque.

Pairing the new Magnus stock with the all-new GLR action, a 4G barrel contour, and lightweight stock fill, the rifle’s weight and handling before and after recoil offers unmatched, long-range precision, and sight picture follow-through.

Holland & Holland

Holland & Holland 465

The venerable British gunmaker introduced the magazine rifle around the turn of the 20th century. The .375 belted cartridge, first offered in 1912, is still a prominent caliber.

Holland & Holland began to explore a belted version of the flanged .500/465 double-rifle cartridge that would be suitable for magazine bolt-action rifles. The cartridge is now in the lineup of calibers offered by the company.

The new .465 is based on standard Holland & Holland design principles to ensure smooth feed and easy extraction. The .465 belted uses the same 480-grain bullet as the flanged version, with a muzzle velocity of 2,375 feet per second; it is capable of 200-yard shots due to its flat trajectory.

Holland’s New York gunroom has a newly manufactured rifle chambered for the cartridge. Weighing 10 pounds,
4 ounces, it’s built on a square bridge, Mauser-type action with a 24-inch barrel, and features highly figured Turkish walnut.

Todd Ramirez

Todd Ramirez .375 Custom Rifle

If you can dream it, Todd Ramirez can build it. He handcrafts both English and American-style rifles using the best components; every one is guaranteed to shoot ½-inch MOA with factory ammo. Todd uses Mauser and Winchester Model 70 actions that he hand-polishes inside and out to ensure proper feeding. His match-grade barrels are crafted especially for your gun, and the wood is usually Circassian Turkish, Clarol English, or French walnut.

Now the fun part: picking the accessories. There are many choices, including front sights, express sights, swivels, and crossbolts. Ebony-plugged crossbolts or metal with engraving. Grip caps and butt plates can be either skeleton or solid, or there is always the option of a leather wrap pad.

Ramirez offers a variety of metal finishes — bluing the barrels and action, Nitre bluing on the extractors and other small parts, and color casing on the shroud. As for the stock’s finish, you can select from satin, semi-gloss, or high-gloss oil, the latter applied by hand in 30 separate coats. For your engraving, you might want initials and a fine border checkering or go all-out and do full engraving. The entire rifle-building process takes about a year and a half to complete.

Sauer & Sohn

Sauer & Sohn S 404

The S 404 is a collection of advances in rifle safety, ergonomics, accuracy, performance, and flexibility. What really stands out about the S 404 is its patented safety concept, which is a completely new manual cocking system. The ergonomic metal cocking slide on the bolt shroud allows the rifle to be cocked both comfortably and silently since the sound of the detent button is automatically muffled by the soft flesh of the thumb. The slide is retracted to its uncocked position by simply pressing the button again. In addition, an automatic firing pin safety prevents it from firing when the bolt is not fully closed.

Another highlight of the S 404 is the revolutionary Quattro trigger system. With the help of the integral Sauer universal (SUS) key, you can choose between four different trigger pull weights, and changing it takes only seconds. The SUS universal key also allows for fast disassembly. Replacement of the stock and barrel can be carried out in less than a minute. Further, the removable bolt head allows you to shoot all available calibers with a single rifle. Simply swap out the bolt head to transform the S 404 from a .30-06 to .375 H&H Magnum in two easy steps.

The rifle is available in four different models: Classic, Classic XT, Elegance, and Synchro XT.
