This weekend on Sporting Classics with Chris Dorsey, Dorsey and family wrestle with river monsters from the southern hemisphere.
Officials from Dorsey Pictures announce that this Saturday’s episode of Sporting Classics with Chris Dorsey – the most watched outdoor TV program in the world – features a family vacation “Dorsey style” as the family going south – way south – to the Amazon basin where the fishing menu includes myriad different species ranging from super-charged peacock bass to catfish the size of deer. It’s a Swiss Family Robinson fly-in adventure to one of the most remote regions in the world where the rewards are nothing short of unforgettable angling.
The episode was filmed with Acute Angling out of the Picapau Lodge on a remote stretch of the Rio Travessao, isolated from the rest of the world by impassable waterfalls and inside a protected native reservation. The encore presentation of this adventure airs this Saturday on Outdoor Channel at 12:30 p.m. EST.
Host Chris Dorsey is among the world’s most widely traveled sportsmen having hunted and fished on five continents and he’s served in board leadership and advisory roles of numerous conservation and sporting advocacy organizations. He’s a member of the Outdoor Legends Hall of Fame and is a recipient of the Ray Scott Trailblazer Award as well as the Curt Gowdy Memorial Award. He’s a biologist, author of 12 books on outdoor subjects, is a past editor-in-chief of Sports Afield and Ducks Unlimited magazines and his work has appeared in most of the outdoor magazines in the English-speaking world as well as National Geographic, Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes and the Robb Report.
Sporting Classics with Chris Dorsey is sponsored by Winchester Ammunition, Winchester Repeating Arms, Sporting Classics magazine, Walther Arms, Riton Optics, Umarex Airguns, Safari Club International, Negrini Cases, Muddy Blinds, Stealth Cam and Cold Steel Knives.

Chris Dorsey’s new book and film set, Casting Call, takes readers and viewers to epic fly waters from the American west to Alaska, across Canada, to the fabled flats of the Bahamas and Belize to the jungles, marshes and highlands of South America and many points in between.
