This video claims to have captured the first goliath grouper caught on a paddle board ever, and boy, was it a catch!
Captain Ben Chancey was on the east coast of Florida when he hooked the monster. He was reeling in when the fish pulled him off the board and into the water. Forward-thinking, he had his rod and reel attached to the board by a rope.
Chancey kept reeling in the fish, even though he had been pulled off the board twice in the fight, according to a spectator heard from off camera.
This fish was a whopping 7-footer, but goliath grouper can get even bigger—as long as 8 feet and weigh nearly half a ton.
