Watch: Tiger Shark Attacks Hooked Hammerhead

A tuna fisherman hooked a hammerhead shark, then had a monster tiger shark take the “bait.”


This footage, shot somewhere off the coast of Venice, Louisiana, shows a tuna fisherman hooking into a 7- to 8-foot hammerhead shark. He began reeling it in, but after five minutes they noticed that something wasn’t adding up. Even an 8-footer shouldn’t be that hard to reel in.

A quick look underwater with their GoPro camera revealed the truth. A tiger shark, estimated at more than 1,000 pounds, was tearing into the hammerhead’s body, taking advantage of the smaller predator’s┬ásituation to attack. The tiger shark eventually swam away, but not without leaving a big impression on the anglers above . . . and the hammerhead below.
