“Rustic”, “Captivating”, “Original”. These words illustrate the craftsmanship of Legacy Forge and Millwork Doors.

This small business tucked away in Klamath Falls, Oregon, designs and creates doors and entryways that capture the beauty of the outdoors. Instead of a window, picture a wildlife scene fastened on your front door. It could feature elk on a mountain cliff or a duck landing on a lake. Various metals can add color to the scene. The possibilities are unlimited.

Owner Kristen Clark says, “Customers are partners in the creation process. They are involved from start to finish — choosing images, wood, and overall design.” If customers send photographs of desired images or logos, the artists at Legacy Forge and Millwork Doors work to replicate the image in a sculpted panel.  The company also has more than 40 pre-made design molds from which customers can choose.

“I ordered two doors on two different occasions,” says Jim Mitchell of Newhall, California. “The doors were custom made and absolutely beautiful. They arrived on time, and I was sent pictures during the manufacturing process.”

With a sculpted panel, your home is sure to make a lasting impression. “Nobody comes to our house for the first time without commenting on our front door,” says David Ashcraft of Camas, Washington. “The products are amazingly unique. No other company makes a product that compares.”

Panels from Legacy Forge and Millwork Doors can add a relaxing ambiance to your home, reminding visitors of the beauty and simplicity of nature. In addition to front doors and entryways, you could consider a bedroom door or even a kitchen bar or island.

Customer Rick Young of Boring, Oregon, ordered a front door with a bear panel on each side for his home. He also purchased an artistic metal panel for the front of his bar, featuring a man panning for gold.

“It’s fit like a glove and gets comments regularly,” Young says about the bar panel. “I think people need to think out of the box with these art panels.”

Kristen opened Legacy Forge and Millwork Doors in 2001 with her late father, R. Scott Jarvie. Scott was a talented sculptor, painter, and filmmaker, who specialized in nature scenes and Native American life. His experience as a taxidermist has added accuracy and dimension to his panels.  Since he passed away in 2016, his son, Jay Jarvie, has carried on the role of the sculptor. Jay, a gifted artist as well, continues his father’s legacy. He focuses on creating new panel designs, while Scott’s molds can be replicated for new doors according to customers’ wishes.

After Jay sculpts images with clay, Artisan Paul McConnell casts them with a proprietary process and finishes them with a variety of metals the customer chooses. All panels are sealed against weathering and oxidation.

Not only are the metal panels intricately designed, but the quality of the wood is superb. For each door, Master Carpenter Jerry “Turtle” Delorme hand selects pieces of wood that match up with surrounding wood to create the perfect frame for artistic panels. Among other varieties, he uses Alder, Walnut and Maple wood.

When ordering products, customers can be assured of courteous, reliable service. “The staff is very friendly,” Ashcraft says.  “It’s business, but they always treat you like a friend.”
