A new, week-long fly fishing school, founded by longtime Sporting Classics fly fishing columnist Todd Tanner and boasting some of the biggest names in the fly fishing world, will debut this October in Last Chance, Idaho.
Some of the planet’s finest and most iconic fly fishers will gather in Idaho to share their experiences, their knowledge, their passion, and their accumulated wisdom with our students.
Tanner and his team have a simple goal. “If you attend one of our classes,” says Tanner, “we want you to walk away feeling confident that you have the necessary skills to succeed on any trout stream you might fish.”
The School of Trout will pretty much cover it all: trout behavior, equipment & gear, insects, knots, casting, line control and manipulation, reading the water, wading & stalking, choosing your fly, playing & landing your fish, releasing your catch. You’ll learn about dries, nymphs and streamers; about fly rods and reels; about lines, leaders & tippets; about when, and how, to take photos … and when it makes more sense to simply look around and smile. Ultimately, you’ll discover how to become a fly fisher, and you’ll do so under the tutelage of the world’s finest instructors.
The School of Trout will run October 7th – 13th at TroutHunter on the Henry’s Fork. In addition to Tanner himself, fly fishing icons like Tom Rosenbauer, Craig Mathews, Kirk Deeter, Bob White, Tim Romano, Hilary Hutcheson and John Juracek will help 12 lucky anglers develop the skills to fly fish for trout the world over.
