Technical Features
The new SL3 platform is an elegant and reliable boxlock system engineered to provide the best performance in the field and to withstand intensive use.
- Featuring a design unique to Beretta, the SL3 action offers the perfect action/barrel locking system, increasing the robustness and rigidity of the platform. The barrels are anchored at three separate points; hinge pins, lower hooks and locking pins. The opening and closing of the gun will remain smooth and effortless over time and no matter how much use (during validation the SL3 has shot more than 11,500 magnum cartridges with no issues).
- Firing Mechanism. Fast, crisp trigger pulls thanks to the hammer leaf spring, as used in our medal winning competition shotguns.
- Newly designed Ejectors are even more reliable and easier to inspect and clean.
- Optima Bore HP barrels. The main ingredients which drive the stunning performance of the Beretta Steelium barrels are: the exclusive tri-alloy Beretta Steel (Ni, Cr, Mo) which is used, the deep drilling, the cold hammering process and the vacuum distension. The OptimaBore HP barrel profile has been specifically designed to provide excellent patterns with every type of shot: lead, steel and other lead alternatives.
Design and Aesthetics
The rounded and fluid design of the SL3 receiver emphasizes the flowing profile of the gun, enhancing its graceful looks while improving target acquisition.
The unique shape of the top lever has been created to match the elegant lines of the top of the receiver. The tail end of the top lever is tapered, blending the slim shape of the receiver into the wood. A new design of trigger guard gives the SL3 a contemporary look.
The pistol grip is comfortable in the hand with a firm hold provided by the hand checkering. It is also available a pistol grip without checkering that highlights the elegance of the SL3 profile.
The stock and forend are made from high grade selected walnut wood and are matte oil finished.
Engravings are created with Beretta’s most modern and best in class technology: a 5-axis laser, able to engrave rounded surfaces with perfect continuity of the pattern. The plates are then inspected and finished by hand. You can choose from three different engravings designed by Beretta’s Master Engravers:
- A fine English scroll engraving for a stunning traditional look.
- A game scene featuring pheasants on the left, ducks on the right and a partridge on the underside. The ideal game shooting scene for a 12 gauge field, over and under.
- A renaissance style ornamental motif with rich bass relief.
The SL3 is also available in a mirror polished version, requiring hours of hand polishing on every surface. The result is a striking, contemporary look which emphasizes the refined design of this shotgun.
The case
The SL3 is the first Beretta shotgun provided with a new dedicated gun case entirely handmade in our new Custom Gun Case Atelier.
This exclusive SL3 gun case has been sympathetically designed; the buckles take inspiration from the SL3 receiver’s profile, the case locks are designed and crafted with the Pietro Beretta logo shield in mind. This is exclusive to the premium guns, a meaningful detail which celebrates the company’s heritage and also reflects the attention to details that characterizes the Beretta Premium philosophy.
The Beretta Product Design team chose a blue cotton canvas for the external fabric, and an elegant but contrasting rich red lining. All the leather details are hand crafted from the finest Italian leather and hand-stitched to the case itself.
The ergonomics of the leather handle and the perfect weight balance of the case make it comfortable and easy to carry, whilst affording your shotgun the best protection. As an added touch, all the cleaning accessories are at hand in a removable, leather pouch.
