This predator didn’t get away as easily as the grizzly bear that totaled a car and kept on going, but he did walk away from the wreck. Georgie Knox was on her way south from Airdrie, Alberta, to Calgary last week when she hit a coyote. There was a crunch, so Knox believed she had killed the song dog outright. Little did she know . . .
Knox pulled up to a traffic light, where a construction worker told her what had happened.
“When I got out to look, this poor little guy was looking up and blinking at me,” Knox said.
Knox notified Alberta Fish & Wildlife, which dispatched enforcement officers to the scene. The coyote was freed and, except for minor injuries, was unhurt by the encounter.
